Profile Vrs. Account, What is the Difference?

In Tully, you may see both profiles and accounts, and it is important to understand the difference between the two. This FAQ explains how each works so you can confidently manage your roster and help athletes or parents access their data.

What Is a Profile in Tully?

A profile is created by an admin inside the organization. Profiles can be created in two ways:

  • By adding a new person manually on the Roster page or the QR code

  • By having someone scan the organization's QR code, which automatically creates a profile when their name is entered

A profile represents the individual that coaches want to enter data for, such as training numbers, testing results, or program assignments.

Important:
A profile is not a live account. It is simply a record inside your organization that stores data.

What Is an Athlete or Parent Account?

An athlete account or parent account is created when the athlete or parent completes the account registration process associated with their profile.

Once registered:

  • The user can log in to Tully

  • They can see their data, programs, and training history

  • Data continues to tie to their profile, but now through a live, authenticated account

How Do Profiles Become Live Accounts?

A profile becomes a live account when:

  1. The athlete or parent scans the organization’s QR code or receives the URL to create an account

    1. URL = https://portal.tully.app/register
  2. They locate their name in the dropdown list of profiles.

  3. They complete the account creation steps.

Once an account is successfully created, the system links the account to the existing profile so all historical and future data stays attached.

Why Is This Distinction Important?

Understanding the difference helps you:

  • Recognize when an athlete or parent has not yet registered, even though their profile exists

  • Maintain an accurate roster and ensure every user has proper access to their data
